Three Sign of a Miserable Job.
Hello,guys today I am going to share with you a review of the book " THREE SIGN OF A MISERABLE JOB" written by PATRICK LENCIONI.
Patrick Lencioni is an American writer of books on business management, particularly in relation to team management.
In the book 'Three Sign of a Miserable Job', Sir, Patrick points out that with increasing Labour days, Job satisfaction rates goes on declining. The author offers a close look at three core factors behind workplace dissatisfaction:
1. Anonymity;
2. Irrelevance; and
3. Immeasurement
This is among the best selling books with a rating of 4.
1. ANONYMITY
The word 'Anonymity' means the condition of being anonymous. According to author, People cannot be fulfilled in their work if they are not known — at least by their own managers.
By the above statement the author just wanted to say that an employee cannot get attached to his job or work unless his efforts are recognised and praised by the organisation especially by the manager in charge of their work or simply they should not be treated as an outsider or an robot.
To prove this fact he gives an example of a hard working employee, who is a girl! The author says that the girl is very hard working and does all her work at time. For few days she takes maternity leave as she was going to give birth to a baby. When she comes back to the office she is directly handovered the work by the manager. The manager does not ask about how is she? or something about her born child this makes the girl think that does the manager or the organisation are just considered about her work and not her, which makes her to think that the importance of a machine existence is more valuable than her. After that, she decides to leave her job in this organisation and tries for the other where she has some importance.
2. IRRELEVANCE
3. IMMEASURABLE
By Immeasurability the author wants to say that Employees should be able to guage their progress and level of contribution for themselves, not simply based on the whims and opinions of their manager or other influential people. This may improve the quality of the employees leading to the growth of the organisation.
These points may seem same to many of us, few managers take a deliberate approach for tackling these three critical issues day-in and day-out due to lack of focus and priorities.
Lencioni says. “I know what you’re supposed to do to be a great parent” he says. “The question is do I do it every day?” The same goes for managers: “The challenge is to keep remembering to do it.”
